Long walks

Long walk to the gate. Even worse getting to the car rental area. The pick up area and the car location were on opposite sides of a major construction area forcing return to the terminal.

Hertz

Car park is a didaster! Long walk to terminal. Upon return I followed signs to the rental area. They told me the pick up office was on the other side of the construction so back to the terminal. Got the keys and contract and was told the car was back where I had just come from so back up the hill to the terminal and around to get the car.

Delays for flight (2.5 hours) with most of that sat in the tarmac unnecessarily cramped with no access to stretch our legs meaningfully. Extortionate refreshment prices in plane and in airport but quick checking and security

Smaller Airport

This is a small airport with a big feeling, everything went smooth and to schedule.

Security / Check In

When an airport knows it is going to be busy for first wave flights in the morning, it needs to open more luggage security checks and have more staff on call for help. Huge delays with boarding pass check in (machines not working and too few staff to help) and lengthy body check for a passenger unable to use the electronic security check meant delays were so severe that we missed our flight. Arrived at gate as door was shut and despite phone calls to other party member on board, Ryan Air refused to allow us to board.
