      Peru, in the western part of South America on the Pacific Ocean, borders Ecuador, Colombia, Brazil, Bolivia and Chile. Lima, its capital, is the cultural centre of the country. The coast is dry with the garua fog, the Andes have a mountain climate, and the Amazon is humid and equatorial.
