Binter Canarias

Binter Canarias is a Spanish carrier stationed on Gran Canaria – one of the islands of the Canary archipelago. The company was founded on February 18, 1988, and the first flight took place in March 1989. The line has 3 hubs, of which the main one is Gran Canaria. Most of the flights are local flights, but the carrier also supports connections, among others, to Portugal, Spain, Morocco, Senegal, Gambia and Eastern Sahara. As one of the few, maybe even the only, airline Binter Canarias helps its customers overcome the fear of flying. It does this with the help of a course created in cooperation with psychologists and aeronautics specialists which, thanks to the knowledge gained, allows you to fly peacefully.

Luggage

When you buy a ticket for your first flight with Binter Canarias and you want to use only free luggage, you have hand luggage and registered baggage at your disposal. As part of your hand luggage, take one suitcase or bag with dimensions defined by the airline. Remember too that it should not exceed the established acceptable weight after packing. The hand baggage also includes a woman's handbag or a cover for a laptop or a camera. Hand luggage you can take onboard with you. If it turns out that you do not have enough space to pack, add registered luggage to your booking. Free luggage allowance and weight and size limit depend on the route. Registered luggage is placed in luggage hatch during the journey. It is important that there are no dangerous objects in your luggage.

Booking classes

When you check the available flights in Binter Canarias, the search engine will show you 5 possible booking classes: Superpromo, Promo, Económica, Flexible and Business. The main difference between each class is the price of the ticket: from the cheapest in the Superpromo fare to the most expensive in the Business class. The flight price consists of services that are standard ones in a given booking class. Usually, the classes differ from each other by the possibility of changing the name and surname on the reservation, refunding the unused ticket or the option of ordering a hot meal, which will be served during the flight. Which type of booking you choose depends on your preferred flight standard and what you can afford.

Online check-in

Online check-in is available on all Binter Canarias flights. Its main advantage is that you can check-in anywhere, anytime, and in addition, you choose what form you get the boarding pass in – on a mobile phone or as a PDF file. What's more, you do not have to wait in queues to check-in at the airport. If you choose to check-in online, you can get your boarding pass up to 7 days before the date of the flight. However, if you forget to check-in earlier, you can do it up to half an hour before the start. All you need to do is enter your departure date, your ID number, and reservation number. Once a boarding card has been generated, you can safely wait for your email and you can access it at any time. Airport staff and Binter Canarias crew accept both paper boarding passes as well as electronic ones.

Fleet

The Binter Canarias fleet consists of about 20 machines that can carry between 68 and even 100 passengers at a time. The fleet includes two ATR models ATR 72-500 and ATR 72-600, and one Bombardier model, CRJ1000. The Binter Canarias fleet was not always the same. At the beginning, the carrier used, among others, a CN-235 aircraft, which today is used exclusively for military purposes. The reduction of the fleet to three models took place only a few years ago. According to plans, in the future, the fleet will be reduced by ATR 72-500 aircraft, which will be replaced by the delivery of newer models of this type. The line placed an order for new machines in 2016, and some of them have already been delivered. The ongoing modernization brings many benefits to the crew, the environment and, above all, passengers.

Gran Canaria airport

Gran Canaria Airport is the main hub of the Binter Canarias line, next to the ports of La Palma and Aeropuerto de Tenerife Norte. This is the sixth airport in Spain serving the most passengers during the year. It is located on the east coast of Gran Canaria, 19 km south of the centre of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria and about 25 km from tourist cities in the south of the island. You can get to the city by bus, bus, taxi or rented car. Gran Canaria Airport is a 3-storey building with one terminal operating after several reconstructions since 1973. Being at the airport, as a passenger, you have at your disposal several stores, many restaurants and cafes, a playground for children, a post office and even a chapel. The airport has a large, short-term and long-term parking lot.

Refreshments

The carrier does not publish information about meals onboard on its website, so it will be safer if you take something to eat with your hand luggage just in case. Similar airlines usually offer a cabin bar for all passengers. It operates as sort of a sky-high store – during the flight, the onboard crew approaches each passenger with a special trolley and sells products. In the bar, you can get snacks, sweets, and drinks. The choice is big, and the offer is suited to everyone, including children or people with food allergies. In other lines passengers very often also have the option of ordering a hot meal served during the flight. However, this is a service offered on longer routes in more expensive booking classes.

Additional services

It is worth paying attention to two additional services offered by Binter Canarias: the BinterMás loyalty program and a course that helps you overcome the fear of flying. When you participate in a loyalty program, you earn points. You can get them every time you book a flight, buy accommodation or rent a car from Binter Canarias. The more points you have, the more benefits you get, including check-in via phone, exclusive flight offers or priority luggage service. Whereas the Binter Canarias course helps those who are still not convinced to fly. It's practical and theoretical preparation for your first flight which, thanks to the knowledge of psychologists and aeronautical specialists, will allow you to fly without fear.
