Munich
Munich, the capital of Bavaria, lies on the Bavarian plateau on the river Isar. It is the third largest city in Germany, with almost 1.5 million inhabitants. It is famous for Oktoberfest, the Cathedral of Our Lady and Nymphenburg Palace. The city offers a rich cultural scene, including museums and galleries. A temperate climate with mild winters and warm summers makes spring and autumn the best time to visit. Munich is also a centre of science and technology with prestigious research institutions.
